FANTASY BBOY RULES
General Description:
A player (high school student) enters with a coach (5+ years of breaking experience & out of high school) in a 1 vs. 1 format bboy battle where the players battle and the coaches strategize/guide the player through the battle - *Coaches do NOT battle. Top 8 teams will be chosen from prelims and the winning team of each battle must pick up the losing player(s) – the losing coach is knocked out. This will result in a 4 vs. 4 final battle with 1 coach on each side to strategize. The coach of the winning team is awarded the prize.
Battle Format:
Top 8: 1 vs. 1 (+ 1 coach for each side, 1 losing player will be picked up)
Semifinal: 2 vs. 2 (+ 1 coach for each side, 2 losing players will be picked up)
Final: 4 vs. 4 (+ 1 coach for each side)
Participants – The Coach and Players:
Coach - This is a game of complete strategy. Guide the player(s) throughout each round and must communicate to their player their best strategy to win the battle. (For example, in the first round, the coach might know the player on the other team and his weakness. As a coach, use battle tactics to exploit the opponent’s weakness or tell your player to bring out his strengths to outmatch the opponents. As other players are picked out from each round, you may want to arrange the order of who goes out next according to how the other team is sending out their players.)
*Coaches do NOT battle.
Player(s) – Battle each round to the best of your ability while executing the coach’s strategy.
Trump Card: Coach Substitution – As an exception to the rule, “Coaches do NOT battle,” the coach is allowed to battle ONE round in the entire Top 8 bracket – prelims NOT included, however, the coach is REQUIRED to switch with the player(s) using a commando. The commando can be simple or complex, but keep in mind, the battle is being judged as a whole – that includes the commando. (For example, if a team feels the player cannot win against their opponent in the Top 8 round, the team can decide to commando in their coach to substitute that round to heighten their chances of winning – but that is the team’s ONLY chance to substitute. A team can also decide save their coach substitution for a later round in the bracket and, if desired, teach the routine to the new players on the team to bring in the coach for a stronger round in the later battles.)
Preparation:
It is recommended that you find a coach/player to match up with as soon as possible and practice together frequently before the event so the coach can become familiar with the player’s strengths, weaknesses, and character. In that time, aim to improve as much as the player can and work on a routine for the coach’s round.
