Info:
McDonald’s New York Tri-State is proud to announce the return of the city’s largest annual breakdance tournament, McDonald’s B-Boy Royale, on August 26 at the NYU Skirball Center for the Performing Arts. Now in its fourth year, the event will feature eight leading crews from across the U.S. and Canada competing for a $5,000 grand prize and the 2017 championship title. Breakdance legend Richard ‘Crazy Legs’ Colón, president of the Rock Steady Crew --an iconic b-boy group founded in the Bronx in 1977—will serve as the lead judge.
In addition to the main competition, the event will celebrate the introduction of breaking as an official sport at the 2018 Youth Olympics by paying tribute to the street dance’s pioneers and its New York City roots. Surprise guests, music performances and the presentation of the 2017 McDonald’s B-Boy Royale Lifetime Achievement Award will also be featured.
General admission tickets are on sale now at the NYU Skirball Center website [http://nyuskirball.org/calendar/mcdonalds] and box office. From now through April 25, ticket buyers can receive $5 off each purchase using presale code BBOY4.
All proceeds will benefit Ronald McDonald House Charities New York Tri-State Area (RMHC-NYTSA), a non-profit organization that provides needed stability and resources to children and their families.
