What is Rock Dance?
Uprock, or Rocking as it was originally referred to, also known as Rock, is a New York based soulful and competitive street dance, performed in synchronization to the beats and rhythms of soul, rock and funk music, but was mostly danced to a specific and exclusive collection of songs that contained a hard driving beat. The dance consists of foot shuffles, spins, turns, freestyle movements and more characteristically a four point sudden body movement called "jerk".

In this monthly workshop series Whacko along with the help of Mark Rock and D-Pugz will teach students the basic foundation that makes up Rock Dance, learning Jerks (sudden movements done to the break of the song) Burns ( ways to humiliate your opponent) and Freestyle (dancing through the whole song).
We want to share our experiences with the dance while also building a rockdance movement here in the bay area, culminating in a Rock Dance event to be held a week after the last workshop. We encourage all non-dancers/dancers to come out learn.
