The Level Up is a 1v1 freestyle battle designed to raise the competitive bar for Freestyle dancers. Presented by The Hybrids Crew and Sponsored by TEAMJLS and Distrct Arts!
Tired of judges throwing ties every round? Yeah, us too. At The Level Up, each judge will announce their criteria before prelims begin. Furthermore, each judge will only have ONE TIE for the duration of the event. This rule is designed to make judges pay close attention to each round, and only throw a tie when it is absolutely earned.
Tired of dancers wasting the first minute of a song waiting for their opponent to go first? Yup, us too. At The Level Up, we'll decide the first dancer 8-mile style with a coin flip. With this rule in place, the battles start as soon as the music starts.
These are just a few small examples of how we're tweaking the formula to raise the competitive bar of freestyle battles and competitors alike.
At the end of the day, our goal is to get the dance community as a whole to LEVEL UP!
