Funk.IRC stands for Funk In Raw Cyphers.
A few years ago we (IRC - Illusionary Rockaz Company -) started with organizing a jam, known by the name Funk.IRC. With this jam we are trying to centre an important element op the HipHop culture; cyphers to jam and room to exchange with one another. A space for community building; tapping into a place where thought and action come together to share energy and to advance the arts.
This coming volume we will be working together with FEM. Which stands for FEmale movement and is committed to build a platform for the women within the hiphop scene. Together we will organize > Funk.IRC meets FEM, which will be a 2vs2 All Style edition where the woman in the scene are highlighted. Meaning that both the work of the choreographers shown this evening as the invited top 4 are woman.
We want to point out that it does not mean that we are excluding the man in the scene. Everybody is welcome to join > meaning the qualification is open for everyone (so both man and woman) to enter and everybody has a fair chance to be picked to become the top 8!�
The qualification will be held in cyphers. The judges (whom will not be announced in advance) will be joining you in the cyphers, getting down, while selecting the top 4 dancers. Each selected dancer can pick his/her own partner to join the battle. This top 4, will be battling 'the great 4' in a knock out system.
